The Johnstone Retrievers Safe Haven is a foster-based, nonprofit rescue dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming Golden Retrievers and domestic cats in need. We provide compassionate, temporary foster care in loving homes while ensuring each animal receives the veterinary care, emotional support, and second chance they deserve. Our mission is to place every rescued golden and cat into a safe, permanent, and loving home—while promoting responsible pet ownership and advocating for animal welfare throughout our community.

Golden Retrievers & felines can be relinquished to The Safe Haven for any reason.

We do not have a shelter. 

This is a foster-based Rescue. 

Drop-off will be in McHenry, IL by Appointment. 

We work with pregnant and nursing Mother's.

Puppies, kittens, young adult dogs & cats, Adults & Senior dogs & cats.
